Advisory Board: Dr. Robert Buxbaum Hydrogen Fuel Cells and Supercapacitors Dr. Robert Buxbaum’s professional life began as a research consultant at Gordion Associates and continued with research on nuclear-fusion materials at the Argonne National Laboratory. Dr. Buxbaum is presently an adjunct professor at Michigan State University, where he teaches thermodynamics, heat transfer, polymer science, and biological thermodynamics. He has also been the president of REB Research & Consulting Company for the past 20 years, and become an internationally known researcher and consultant in the emerging fields of membranes, hydrogen separators, membrane reactors, and getters. Dr. Buxbaum’s research interests include contemporary clean-energy topics such as hydrogen-fuel-cell materials, membranes, membranes for separators, advanced nickel- metal hydride batteries, gas-purification and separation systems, electrochemical characteristics of the interface between the metal hydride electrode and electrolyte, composite metal membranes for hydrogen extraction, and hydrogen generators. He has eight issued patents and 64 technical publications in these fields. Dr. Robert Buxbaum received his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Princeton University. Professor Rajiv Shivpuri: Manufacturing Systems Dr. Shivpuri is an internationally known expert in manufacturing technologies. He is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, with a B.S. degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Philadelphia’s Drexel University. While in India as a senior scientist, he was group leader of the Metal Fatigue and Fracture, Aeronautical Group Development Establishment of Government of India in Bangalore. In the United States, he served as the senior research engineer at Dyna East Corporation, Philadelphia. Later he joined the faculty of the Ohio State University (OSU), Columbus, and coordinated work for the National Science Foundation in the Billet Forming Thrust Area. Professor Shivpuri also headed the Welding and Systems Engineering Section. He is a fellow of Society of Manufacturing Engineers; 2001 President of North American Manufacturing Research Institute; and member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He has received numerous awards including the Harrison Award for Outstanding Engineering Education (1997), OSU; Lumley Research Awards, College of Engineering, OSU (1994, 1997); Silver Anvil Graduate Awards, Forging Industry Association (1992-93-94); Silver Anvil Undergraduate Award (Brett Painter, 1994); Forging Industry Association; and Presidential Fellowships from OSU Graduate School. Dr. Shivpuri is also a member of several prestigious professional societies. Dr. Naresh Kar: Electron Microscopy & Micro Analysis Dr.Kar is a nationally known independent consultant in microstructural analysis. He is a Vice President and a Principal at Kar’s Advanced Materials, Inc. Anaheim, CA. The Company has a complete analytical and testing laboratory for failure analysis, research, and testing, including state of the art scanning electron microscopes, X-ray analysis, metallographic preparation and microscopy, materials forensic analysis facility. Dr Kar has 11 issued and six pending patents, and numerous publications in the fields of his expertise. Dr. Kar is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, with a BS degree in Metallurgical Engineering, and he received his M.S. and Ph. D. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a California-registered professional engineer and is a Fellow of both the American Society of Materials International and American College of Forensics Examiners. |
